British Railways Diesel Traction Manual for Enginemen

The object of this book, which is the first diesel manual published by British Railways for enginemen, is to help them become more proficient in the performance of their diesel duties. It is hoped that the information contained in it, which is built up on basic principles, will stimulate thought and interest in operating the new form of motive power with a view to punctual running, safety and good enginemanship.

No reference to driving instruction has been made, as each engineman will be given special training in the operation of each type of diesel traction, at which time he will be provided with the appropriate instructions.
